Man Arrested following Prescot Car Theft

Merseyside Police can confirm a man was arrested following a report of theft of a car in Prescot in the early hours of today (Tuesday, 10 May).

Just after midnight this morning, police received a report that a blue Ford Fiesta car had been stolen outside an address on Lathum Close at around 11.45pm on Monday.

Officers attended and a road pursuit took place assisted by the National Police Air Service. During the pursuit a collision happened involving the vehicle and a police patrol car on Manchester Road.

The pursuit of the car continued before the driver left the vehicle and made off on Ash Grove. A brief foot pursuit followed and a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle. He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside to be interviewed.

    I counted 12 police cars down Manchester Road and then the helicopter. Couldn’t sleep!!!
