Festival Season Almost upon Prescot
The month of June 2016 will be packed full of events celebrating Prescot’s unique history, heritage and culture.
It kicks off with the annual Elizabethan Fayre on Saturday 4 June. From 10am to 3pm, visitors have a chance to step back into Prescot’s illustrious past, with stalls, games, street entertainment and more fun for all ages.
A highlight of the day will be MATE Productions‘ ‘Pop Up Shakespeare,’ in which they present hilarious potted versions of the Bard’s Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet.
Coinciding with this will be the monthly Prescot Producers’ Market (9am-2pm) on Eccleston Street and Prescot Arts, Craft & Gift Fair (9am-4pm) in Prescot Shopping Centre. Browse and buy quality products from dozens of local, independent artisans and traders.
On the evening of Saturday 4 June, MATE Productions are back with the premiere of their outdoor production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, a tale of action, romance and comedy taking place in the woodlands of Prescot Parish Church and Vicarage.
They return on Sunday 5 June for a 2.30pm matinee and a 6.30pm evening performance of the play.

Then, on Friday 17 June, the 12th Annual Prescot Festival of Music & the Arts opens with Swingshift Big Band and guest vocalist Chris James, in a tribute to Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra, among others.
On Sunday 19 June, there’s a choice of Father’s Day treats, with Prescot Carnival taking place on Brown’s Field from 12 noon to 4pm, and a concert with Nigel Ogden, of BBC Radio 2’s The Organist Entertains, at 3pm at Prescot Parish Church.
Mozart’s choral Requiem, Songs from the Shows with BOST and a screening of Willy Russell’s Our Day Out also feature in the array of events during the 10-day programme, which closes with a Proms-style orchestral finale on Sunday 26 June.
