Shakespeare’s As You Like It Back in Prescot – for One Weekend Only!
MATE Productions will be back on home turf with their hit staging of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It on 30 and 31 July.
The show comes back to Prescot after a tour that included Netherley, Halewood, Mossley Hill, Aigburth and the home of the Bard himself, Stratford-upon-Avon.
The Stratford matinee took place in the Dell (pictured), part of the Royal Shakespeare Company complex. RSC’s Open Stages programme and Prescot-based Shakespeare North teamed up with MATE to make the production possible.
As You Like It was brilliantly received by Stratford audiences, one of whom praised the “amazing cast” for their “fun and energy.” The costumes were “stunning,” she added.
Shakespeare’s 1599 comedy is an adventure full of romance and laughter. As well as songs and dances, it includes one of the playwright’s most celebrated speeches, beginning with the immortal phrase “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”
Prescot audiences have three more opportunities to catch the play in the beautiful woodlands of Prescot Parish Church this weekend.
Performances are at 2pm and 6.30pm on Saturday 30 July and 2pm on Sunday 31 July. Tickets are just £8 for adults and £6 for children, and you can buy them on the door, online at www.mateproductions.co.uk, or in person from All That Glam, Jessies Jewels and Poco Coffee in Prescot town centre.
