Prescot Hockey Club Starts Season with Double Win
Prescot Hockey Club have had a good start to the 2016-2017 season, with two wins and a loss on their opening weekend.
Carlisle Men 2-7 Prescot Men
Prescot first team had a daunting trip to Carlisle for their opening league fixture of the new campaign. Carlisle were unbeaten at home for over two years, but Prescot’s pre-season form rolled on as they took the game to Carlisle from the off.
Two goals from Mortimer, Jobes and Lomax gave Prescot complete command of the game, which they never let slip. Mortimer went on to score twice more, and Jay Lomax added the seventh to put an early marker down and seal an emphatic away win.
Prescot Ladies Seconds 2-0 Manchester Moss Park 0
The ladies seconds continued their fine form with another convincing victory over a tough Moss Park team. the Prescot youngsters weathered some early pressure, but once they had scored their first goal it was one-way traffic, with Lucy Wright-Perkins and Donna Archer scoring the goals.
Prescot Men Seconds 1-2 Fylde 2
The second team were unlucky to lose to the newly formed Fylde, but defensive lapses gave the visitors an early two-nil lead. Prescot rallied and took the game to Fylde, with Clucas and Bordman going close before Foster pulled a goal back with ten minutes remaining. Prescot dominated the final few minutes, and Capt. Jones even took the keeper off in search of an equaliser – but plenty of optimism for the coming season.
