Bomb Experts in Prescot over Suspected Mortar Shell
Construction workers uncovered a suspected mortar shell in Prescot today (Thursday 27 October).
Merseyside Police were called to a building site on Sinclair Way, in Prescot Business Park, at 2.25pm.
Trained explosive ordnance disposal officers cordoned off the area while examining the object, and took the device away after it was declared non-viable and safe.
A worker on the site later tweeted Merseyside Police to thank them for their impressive handling of the incident, promising he would “try not to dig anymore up.”
@MerseyPolice thanks for coming to sort out our little “problem” in Prescot this afternoon. Very impressive. Will try not to dig anymore up
