Major Fire at Prescot Waste Facility
Prescot residents woke up to plumes of thick, black smoke this morning (Sunday 4 December).
Fire crews were called to Carr Lane at 5.57am and were on the scene within six minutes. At least six fire appliances are attending the blaze.
No injuries have been reported from the fire, which is in a 100m x 100m waste transfer facility warehouse.
Anyone living in or travelling through Prescot should expect road closures throughout the day.
Nearby residents are warned to keep their windows shut and to contact their GP or the NHS on 111 if they think the smoke has affected their health. Residents with pre-existing health conditions are asked to keep their medicines close.
