emily-hughes-prescot-liverpool-everymanPrescot’s Emily Hughes has been chosen from hundreds of candidates to be part of the Liverpool Everyman’s new repertory company.

The young actress, who hails from Eccleston Park, will act in four productions at the iconic Liverpool theatre this coming season. The dramatic line-up opens in February with the musical Fiddler on the Roof.

Having trained at the Oxford School of Drama, Emily applied to audition for the new ensemble this past summer. She’s one of three young artists making their professional debuts with the company.

Asked what excited her about joining the Everyman, she said: “Working on four amazing plays all of which speak volumes about the world we’re living in; working with a magical team whose eyes are fixed on making a real impact in the Liverpool community.”

Emily added, “And of course, working in my favourite city in the world.”

Julie Walters, Bill Nighy and the late Pete Postlethwaite are among the actors to have begun their careers at the Everyman, whose presence on the Liverpool theatre scene dates to 1964.

Several of Whiston-born writer Willy Russell’s plays had their premieres there, including Shirley Valentine.
