Kids’ Competition to Celebrate Knowsley Safari’s new ‘Wolf Country’

(Press release) Children across the North West are being invited to flip conventional fairy tales on their head by turning the big, bad wolf into the hero.

To celebrate the opening of Knowsley Safari’s new Wolf Country, the popular attraction wants to show the animals in a different light.

So they’ve challenged children to pen a fairytale-style poem where, instead of being the villain, the wolf is the good guy.

This could be inspired by the Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, the Boy Who Cried Wolf, Peter and the Wolf – or something completely new and original.

The winner will get an exclusive, up-close wolf walk for themselves and a group of their classmates, hosted by the Knowsley Safari Learning and Discovery team.

Eveline de Wolf, Knowsley Safari’s head of living collection, says: “Our wolves are magnificent creatures and deserve to be celebrated. It’s time for new stories where the wolf isn’t the cartoon baddy.

“We can’t wait to see what the children come up with. The brand new habitat at Knowsley Safari allows visitors to see the wolves in a new light and so will the children who enter the competition.”

The competition is open to children between the ages of 6 and 11 and is open until Friday 20th October. To enter, children must submit their poem to Wolf Country,Knowsley Safari, Prescot, Merseyside L34 4AN.
