A businesswoman from Whiston has been named Enterpreneur for Good at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards North.

Julie Anne Parker of Million Stars Sustainable Events received the prestigious regional award on Thursday 15 November at a ceremony at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Founded in 2015, Million Stars aims to see all events reach zero waste outputs in the next five years. The company also recovers abandoned camping waste and works with prisons to repurpose equipment for re-use through rent-a-tent and chair hire initiatives, or ‘upcycle’ waste into new products.

Julie Anne described the wins as “a huge honour.”

She added that being awarded Entrepeneur for Good was “a phenomenal achievement, especially in a category were the finalists were of such a high calibre. I’m delighted to bring this award back to Liverpool, and it was also hugely satisfying as a staunch LFC supporter to visit Old Trafford and bring home a trophy!

“I also want to thank the local community, who have really got behind our work, and our volunteers whom without our festival waste recovery wouldn’t be possible.”
