Whiston Town Council By-election This Thursday
[Update, 18 October 2019: Marianne Burke-Thompson has been elected, holding the seat for the Green Party, with 481 votes to David Williams’s 449.]
A town council seat in Whiston South will be contested in a by-election this Thursday, 17 October.
The position became vacant after the resignation of sitting councillor Trisha Jones, who was elected in May, when Whiston Town Council became 100-percent Green.
The Greens will face Labour in the polls, with Marianne Burke-Thompson standing against former Labour town and borough councillor David Williams.
Polls are open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 17 October at the following polling stations:
- Halsnead Primary School, L35 3TX
- St Nicholas’ Church, L35 3SG
- George Howard Community Centre, L35 3SR
- The Acorn Centre, L35 2YW
