Prescot Christmas Lights Get £10,000 Boost
Prescot town centre will benefit from £10,000 worth of Christmas lights – plus special musical guests at the official switch-on this November.
Local traders teamed up under the banner of Prescot Business Club to enter a competition organised by Revive & Thrive, and found themselves up against a shortlist of ten towns – including Kidsgrove, Putney, Swaffham and Cambridge – in the grand final.
To convince the judges, they had to produce a video celebrating the heritage and history of Prescot.

“We were up against some tough competition,” said Jessie & Co owner Louise Gillespie, “but our business community is so passionate about our town, and I think this really came across in our entry and was recognised by the judges.”
She added that she and others would be working with Blachere Illumination “to help make it an extra-magical Christmas for the town.”
As well as Blachere’s festive lights, the prize includes a performance by The Jerseys (pictured), a Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons live tribute act.
The live Prescot Christmas lights switch-on takes place from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday 16 November 2019 (TBC).
