New Bistro to Bring Market Place Alive This Christmas
A new bistro and cultural complex will bring a lantern parade, live music and an ice skating rink to Prescot town centre this weekend.
Imaginarium Bistro opens on Friday 29 November in Market Place. Historically a centre of commercial activity in the town, the piazza will become home to a busy, year-round programme of arts and culture, run by community theatre company Imaginarium.
For its opening weekend, the newly redeveloped area will house a Knowsley Council-sponsored ice-skating rink, bringing festive fun from 2pm to 9pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm to 6pm on Sunday (skating tickets £5).
The grand opening festivities include a lantern parade at 6.30pm on Friday, from the flat iron building on Eccleston Street to the bistro on Market Place. The entertainment continues in the piazza from 7pm to 8pm, with guest performers including singers, drummers, fire dancers and an appearance from St Mary & St Paul’s Primary School Choir.
Seasonal treats on the menu include crepes, cocktails, hot chocolate, and mulled wine and cider.
Proprietors Francesco and Gaynor La Rocca are opening the new eatery as part of the creative vision started with Imaginarium Theatre, which Gaynor founded in 2000 as MATE Productions. The company are best-known for their large-scale Shakespeare productions in the ‘woodland theatre,’ in the grounds of Prescot Parish Church.
