Tributes Paid to Whiston Hospital Surgeon Sadeq
A Whiston Hospital surgeon has passed away from Covid-19.
Sadeq Elhowsh, 58, who worked with St Helens & Knowsley NHS for 17 years, died in hospital on Monday night (20 April).
Married with four sons, he was “a wonderful husband, as well as a devoted father,” his family said.
“We cannot put into words the depth of our loss. He loved his work and was dedicated to supporting his patients and his colleagues.”
Ravi Gudena, a fellow orthopaedic surgeon, said that “nothing was ever too much trouble for Sadeq.
“He was always there to help anyone and was happy to do whatever was needed to help his colleagues and patients.”
Hundreds of NHS staff lined the driveway outside Whiston Hospital’s main entrance on Tuesday to applaud Sadeq as he passed in a funeral hearse.
His colleagues at the trust have set up a GoFundMe page to support his family.
