Baby Memorial for Prescot Cemetery
Prescot Cemetery will soon be home to a memorial to the infants buried on the site.
With the help of a Knowsley Council grant, volunteers from the Friends of Prescot Cemetery & Churchyard (pictured) have bought a statue and bench, to be placed in a small garden and dedicated this Sunday, 12 October.
The memorial recalls a time when stillborn and newborn babies were routinely placed in unmarked graves.
Sunday’s short ceremony, led by the Vicar of Prescot, Reverend Canon John Taylor, takes places at 2pm near the Wood Lane entrance.
Refreshments follow in the Prescot Parish Church Meeting Room, and all are welcome.
