Work Starts on New Prescot Police & Fire Station
Construction is underway on a new joint police and fire station in Prescot.
The building, on a vacant site between Manchester Road and Carr Lane, replaces both Prescot Police Station on Derby Street and Whiston Fire Station off Delph Lane. Huyton Fire Station will also close when fire services are moved to the single site next year.
It is a shared initiative by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority, Merseyside Police, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and Knowsley Council.
Groundwork began in November 2016, and the new facilities are expected to be up-and-running by February 2018.

Local apprentices working on site
Four young people from the borough have been appointed as apprentices to support Wates Construction in the project.
Kayleigh Rimmer, 27, Dan Bresnahan, 19, Paul McGlynn, 19, and Thomas Twigg, 17, are now on site at the £7m-project, honing their skills across a range of trade-based and administrative roles.
Dan, an apprentice quantity surveyor, said he loved that “once the building is finished I will be able to come away knowing that it’s a project that I took part in.
“Doing an apprenticeship is great way to get experience hands-on while working on a live job.”
