Rachel Says Yes after Prescot Plane Proposal
Sky-watchers in Prescot may have caught a glimpse of a spectacular marriage proposal on the May Day Bank Holiday.
Rachel Bache was sitting under the sun with boyfriend Adam Robinson when she spotted an aeroplane carrying a banner that read, “RACHEL BACHE WILL YOU MARRY ME [heart] ADAM.”
“We have only been together for a year, but it’s been a tough year,” Rachel told Prescot Online. “I met Adam last May, and my mum passed away in August after battling a rare neurological disease.”
She discovered she was pregnant just three days before her mother died. Baby Connor was born ten weeks premature on 22 February, and spent his first five weeks in hospital.
“Friday would have been Connor’s due date, and Sunday was my 27th birthday, so Adam chose this weekend to pop the question,” Rachel said.
“It’s a little bit of happiness after an incredibly hard year.”
Her mischievous partner spent Monday morning trying to tempt her into the back garden to play with their pet dog.
“I thought it was a police helicopter at first,” Rachel said of the moment she first heard the plane overhead. “I was gobsmacked when I realised what it was. He got down on one knee – with the dog trying to get in-between – and popped the question.”
Rachel tells Prescot Online she is “absolutely over the moon,” and the couple are planning a wedding for 2015.
