Lost Poodle Harvey Confirmed Dead Since November
The missing dog at the centre of a high-profile search has been confirmed dead, his owners say.
Pet miniature poodle Harvey escaped from a house in Rainhill on 23 November 2013.
Owners Jude Devine and Shaun Robertson had left him in the care of friends, but spooked by unfamiliar surroundings, he ran away.
The couple were so devoted to him that they put life on hold to search for him, commandeering a ‘Harvey Army’ of hundreds of local volunteers and almost 6,000 Facebook supporters.
Last Friday, however, Jude and Shaun heard from a Highways Agency officer that a dog matching Harvey’s description had been found dead on the M62 motorway, near Rainhill Stoops, on the day he went missing.
The couple say they are pressing the Highways Agency for answers as to why they weren’t told earlier.
As they await a response, they have asked supporters to keep working together on social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to help find other lost pets.
They are also urging people to join Doglost.co.uk, as well as signing a petition to introduce compulsory microchipping and microchip-scanning. The petition has almost 12,000 signatures so far.
